Can we keep our existing balances?
There's no automated import, but most timebanks migrate by having the admin issue each member their starting balance as a one-time entry. For a typical timebank that's an evening of work, once.

Do members need to install anything?
No — the bank runs in the browser and works on phones. Members who want an app icon can install it as a PWA from their browser.
Who controls the ledger?
Your community does. Each bank has its own cryptographic keys, and its administrators are chosen by you. barter.game hosts the infrastructure but can't move anyone's credits.
